Anyone who knows Nakia Brooks, knows that I do not work on Sunday’s. But the truth of the matter, I really do work most of the day on Sunday’s. I enjoy working at churches doing sound and technology.
I have been on staff at a couple churches over the years. I have been a consultant at other churches that have issues with their sound or looking to upgrade. I have done everything from running a soundboard like the picture below that I am running now, to being the production manager and backstage tech. Both my wife, Elizabeth and I have been involved in the behind the scenes of church for quite some time. It’s our way of giving serving the Lord and allows us to fellowship with like minded people.
Serving on a tech team at your local church can be huge reward and allow you to learn a ton of stuff. Not only do you get to learn about new things that make the church what it is, you are serving our Lord and Savior. You are the “making” of someone who is lost and broken coming into church. You are allowing the worship and message of the pastor open their hearts to receive the message that Jesus has prepared for them.
When I think about serving, it reminds me of reading the passage in the book of Acts 20:35 “And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus ‘It is more blessed to give than receive.“
If you would like more information about serving in our local church or just talking about what we do, please feel free to reach out to me. I love talking about serving and the “behind the scenes” of church!
